THE VIOLENT DEATH OF ARTICLE MARKETING – Not Really!

“Article Marketing Is Definitely NOT DEAD… Garbage Article Marketing Has Probably Met It’s Match”

For years Internet Marketers have been using article marketing to drive loads of targeted traffic to their blogs, websites, and opt-in pages, and thanks to top article marketing directories like Ezine Articles its been a very effective strategy for years.  The benefit of being an approved “article marketing expert” on Ezine Articles, at least from my point of view, was that they were given phenomenal search engine rankings due to their massive content base.  As you know, or should realize, the more high-quality content your website contains the better you look to the big G.  So if you knew how to create keyword rich titles that were being actively searched, you could make a killing, and many people did.

Then Google Panda kicked in…

What this new Google update did was it hurt sites that had a few very obvious ‘flaws’ in their eyes, two of which Ezine Articles had in massive abundance:  Lots of ads and Lack of quality content.  So in a way the update wasn’t a direct slap on the wrist to Ezine Articles itself, rather the fact that a good majority of their articles were simply not that good.  For example, if I’m looking around for an article that teaches me how to get six-pack abs, you’re going to find hundreds of thousands of articles that don’t really deliver the content I’m looking for, but do prompt me to opt-in to learn more.  Now don’t get me wrong, writing for the sake of building your email list is an essential part of building your online business, but providing no value in the article(s) and then hoping to get clicks back to your site is a risky business.

I am one of the Expert Authors on Ezine Articles, with over 600 articles personally written, and there is a very obvious trend when I look at my numbers:  The articles with the most value and content were read by thousands of people, those that I spat out in less than 20 minutes for the sake of getting backlinks and a few new email subscribers are still in the single digits.

What does this tell me?  It tells me that the garbage content is ineffective and the quality content is highly effective!  Which is exactly what the new Google update is saying.

THOSE WHO TAKE THE TIME TO CREATE VALUABLE CONTENT WILL WIN… PLAIN AND SIMPLE!

That’s what should be taken away from the new update that has people thinking that Article Marketing is dead.  It is very much alive if you focus on delivering valuable information and not the same re-hashed crap that everyone else is peddling.  If it was truly “DEAD”, then some of my favorite websites like the HuffingtonPost, CNN.com, and ESPN.com would all be suffering – they aren’t!

So How Can I Use Article Marketing To Succeed In My Online Business?

This one’s easy!  Instead of focusing on creating let’s say 10-15 articles that are only average, create 1-2 that are outstanding and what happens as a result is as follows:

- More people will click on the article to read it (an outstanding article by the way also means more time spent creating compelling titles)

- More people will see you as an expert as opposed to just someone trying to make a quick buck

- More people will click on your bio link

- And ultimately you will make more money

Good, high-quality content is what we call ‘Evergreen”, meaning it will work for you long after you’ve sat down and created it.  You want what you’re doing today to keep working hard for you for years to come, and if you only focus on writing/creating today for the sake of benefits today, you’re doomed from the start!  One of the big reasons why many of us start online businesses is so we can eventually make a massive income with very little work – eventually.  You have to use article marketing and content creation very carefully because there are so many ways that garbage content can hurt your bottom line.  Never release something you wouldn’t want your friends or family to read, that’s my #1 criteria when I write something.

And sure, there are some people with thousands upon thousands of articles out there on Ezine Articles, but the focus has been on quantity rather than quality, and now a day that just isn’t gonna cut it… Not in Google’s eyes and not in your potential customers eyes.

To your success!
