I was just reading an article on one of my favorite financial websites and it talked about how blogging is an endeavour with lots of work and very little rewards, and I was kind of scratching my head wondering why exactly they were knocking blogging as a great money making venture. I mean, I started my medical education company on a blogging platform, learned exactly how to make money through the blog, and then made money. The article then went on to say the average “successful” blog makes between $50-100 per month…. PER MONTH?!??!! I don’t buy this for a single second, I know most of the blogs I read are making that much every hour.
Then I went on to take a look at the blog I was reading and a few things struck me as disappointing… The first thing that made me realize why there was such a “starving blog” type of feeling to the article was that this was someone blogging solely for the sake of getting traffic to the site in order to click on sidebar links. As soon as I saw this I knew I absolutely had to write about the specific things your blog (or website, whatever you want to call your business), must have in order to ensure you’ll get the most money possible from the least amount of work.
So here are THREE TACTICS you should be using to ensure your Internet business is maximizing the money-making potential it has:
#1 – OFFER A FREE PRODUCT AND COLLECT NAMES & EMAIL ADDRESSES
This is money-making 101… You almost never make a sale from someone’s first visit to your site, it’s just how things go! That’s why we need to make a compelling offer that is right “IN YOUR FACE” so that if it’s something they want, it’s right there for them to grab, for FREE! And even if your free offer isn’t necessarily something that they need, they get it for free so you might get a new lead. Then you set up your auto responder to send your prospects lots of high-quality information that will help them solve their problems. Every now and again simply remind them that you have paid products that will help them even further and in more detail.
If you have a website, you need to be collecting names and email addresses, there’s no excuse! Your email list is such an important asset in your business, and if you start building it now, having it will be extremely valuable to you down the road, even in ways you may not see or understand just yet.
#2 – BE UNIQUE AND LET YOUR PERSONALITY SHINE THROUGH
I’ll admit sometimes I hesitate to let my true personality shine through, only because I don’t want to offend people with my rather strong opinions and stubborn nature, but the more you let your personality shine through, the more people will feel like they’re visiting you rather than just a bunch of content.
If you’re sweet and innocent, let it shine through!
If you love to drop the F-bomb every now and again, go the F ahead and let it slip!
This is also why adding a video of yourself here and there can work wonders because people like to put a face and voice to the writing.
#3 – PROVIDE REAL VALUE AND QUALITY
Keep ‘em coming back by giving them what they want; good high-quality content. Let me tell you, some blogs will drop these 200-300 word articles that really don’t deliver anything that will help me out in any way, shape, or form. I call these blogs: Blogs I will never re-visit. We are in an information age, if you want to get an answer for something, you can get it out there somewhere… Someone is out there deliver some kick-butt content that others are trying to peddle for money. I’ve given away more information in my three businesses (including this one which is still fairly new), that most people would ever considering giving away for free. Do you know how much information you can pack into a 1000 word article?? Quite a bit, and not a bunch of fluff, but good content that answers real questions and solves real problems.
My motto is and has always been this: Give away your best stuff for free and people will beg you to take their money for your paid stuff.
And I have to tell you, as soon as I started to give away 2hr videos from my medical exam prep course, people started dropping hundreds and thousands of dollars for the full package. When you let people see your best, they’re now aware and will know that the stuff you’re charging for must be out of this world.
That’s it guys, three very easy-to-apply tactics that I guarantee will help you make your first dollar online and will continue to help you build and expand your business in the months and years to come!
All the best!
