“Studies Show That People Buy From You, On Average, After The 7th Visit To Your Site”
The ‘auto responder’ or ‘email auto responder’ is an invaluable tool if you’re trying to build a business. It never ceases to amaze me how many websites, business, and bloggers simply fail to monetize their traffic long-term by not having an auto responder on their site.
If you’re new and you don’t know what an auto responder is exactly, it’s a tool that allows you to send automated emails, that you create ahead of time, to every new lead that opts in to your email list. You get people onto your list and into your auto responder by offering them something of value for free that they can get in exchange for giving you their name and email address.
TWO IMPORTANT QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF ABOUT AUTORESPONDERS
You may be wonder why you need to get an auto responder, and you might also be wondering if it’s something you can afford. Let me start first by answering the second question: You can’t afford not to have an auto responder! It’s like having an army of sales people working for you 24/7, sending out emails that you’ve created to offer your leads lots of free value and advice, helping them solve their problems on complete autopilot. Now let me answer the first question of why you need to get an auto responder: Most people aren’t going to buy from you the first time they land on your website, unless of course you are already well known or they absolutely must have what you’re offering… if you’re offering something on the website at all.
Studies have shown that it takes the average person seven exposures to you before they will consider buying something from you. What this means is that it is highly unlikely you will drum-up a good amount of business without having an auto responder in place. This means that if you can continually add new leads to your auto responder and offer them lots of good advice on a regular basis, you will significantly increase the odds that each potential customer becomes a customer.
RELATIONSHIP BUILDING IS ALSO HIGH ON THE ‘WHY I NEED ONE’ LIST
There are millions of people across the globe these days looking for answers to their questions by searching via the Internet, the problem is however that there are also so many people out there offering bad advice and shotty products that simply don’t work – so the Internet community is somewhat jaded in that respect. Some may think that making money online by solving someone’s problems is too hard, but it really isn’t, and with the help of your auto responder you can build a relationship with them on autopilot that will allow them to see you stand out from the crowd.
Building a relationship is as simple as this online: Offer something of real value (such as I offer a 6-day online business course on this site for free), then truly teach them to do what they are looking to learn. Show that you truly and honestly do care about their success and don’t just jam offer after offer down their throats.
KEEPING YOUR EMAIL LIST HAPPY
It’s not really rocket-science when it comes to building and maintaining your email list – offer tons of free value. Get yourself onto some people’s lists and see what they do, then decide if you enjoy being on their list or if it feels like a day-by-day sales assault. Value first, selling second – if you try to sell in order to offer value, you’re going to struggle to make good money online. But if you offer insane amounts of value up-front, people are going to see the value in you and will be more likely to pay you.
ALL OF THIS IS POSSIBLE ONLY WITH AN AUTORESPONDER
Everything we’ve discussed today would only be a discussion if you do indeed have an auto responder in place. Can you see all of the benefits there are to having an auto responder setup and delivering lots of great value to your leads? If you can’t see it or don’t think it will help you have more success online, try things out for a year and then decide if you could have possibly made more money by having one in place.
DON’T WANT TO OFFER A FREE GIFT OR DON’T KNOW WHAT TO OFFER?
Lots of bloggers and/or websites don’t feel the need to offer a free gift in order to add new leads to their lists, and if that’s the case then I have a solution for you – create a ‘newsletter’ and let people know they can get updates about news from your business if they join in! Creating a sense of community within the newsletter lets people feel as though they belong to something special and fun, and its a very easy, non-confrontational way to make soft-sell offers at the end of every single update you send out.
For example, let’s say you update your blog every 3-5 days… Not every single person who enjoys reading your website will remember to check back every few days, so you should go to them and just blast out an email whenever you have new information that they might enjoy reading, then at the end of the email remind them that they can get access to whatever product/service you have available to them. The reason why this is so effective is because you’re offering lots of free information to your readers in each email, instead of doing what many people do and simply send out offer after offer with no real value.
Whichever works for you and your readership is what you should do – some people offer free gifts and then offer a weekly newsletter, some do different combinations of many things, but whatever is best for you and your business is what you should do.
So if you’re not using an auto responder yet, try out Aweber, that’s the one I use and they really are a great service that offers you a great business tool.
Until next time!
